Our Ethos and Curriculum
Play is central to the experience we provide the children, and we aim to make it the main part of our pedagogy. This allows the children to experiment with their imaginations and independent creative thinking, through free choice activities, using resources to create what they want to do, finding the space and resources to feed their imagination.
We encourage every child to build confidence and independence skills in a variety of ways. We will support each child in a way that is relative to their needs and stand by them while they make steps towards being more independent and confident.

Everyone is welcome regardless of their needs or background. We endeavour to provide and seek to support all children and families in our community so that all can thrive and no child is ever left behind.

We communicate with and work in partnership with families and the wider community to ensure that all children have access to support.

We seek to encourage each other and look out for everyone’s wellbeing.

Our Curriculum

Our Pre-school provides play and learning experiences to support a child’s learning and development which are detailed in the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework alongside Development Matters.
In addition to these, we also tailor our curriculum at Haddenham Pre-school. Our curriculum is a variety of goals that we intend every child to achieve during their early years journey with us before they move on to their ‘new school’.
Our curriculum is centred around the child’s experiences from home, and their needs and interests. Our experienced and caring practitioners, gently support and carefully question children and provide resources and experiences to further extend these during purposeful learning opportunities. We strongly recognise that every child is unique and has individual needs and interests. Our curriculum provides every child with the opportunity to grow, learn and develop in a nurturing environment which is adapted to the individual child.
During play and activities, our practitioners observe the children, and this information is further used to inform their individual planning. During this planning process, practitioners incorporate the three I’s.

These are:
-
Intent- What we intend every child to learn.
-
Implement- How we are going to adapt the activities to meet all children’s individual needs and the way they learn.
-
Impact- We look at the activities and goals daily as well as periodically to ensure good progress is being made by all of the children.
When reviewing curriculum goals, we also take into consideration the specific and changing goals that our feeder primary schools are intending the children to have developed, during their early years journey. These are then changed or added to our curriculum periodically.
