FAQ'S

Do the children need a school bag?

Yes. Please provide a drawstring bag if possible, to keep spare clothes in. We would prefer a drawstring bag to a rucksack as space is restricted in the cloakroom. Drawstring bags are available to buy from Pre-school for £4.00.

What do the children need to bring with them?

  • A change of clothes in case of an accident

  • A coat

  • A pair of wellington boots in case of bad weather and for allotment visits

  • A warm hat and gloves for the winter

  • In the summer a suitable sunhat and suncream

  • A named water bottle

  • A healthy packed lunch if staying for lunch club

Please name all items!

Does my child have to be toilet trained?

No, it is not a problem if your child is not toilet trained as children develop at different times. We just ask that you provide nappies and wipes in your child's bag and ensure that they have a clean nappy on before coming to pre-school.

Does my child need to wear a uniform?

Children do not need to wear a uniform and just need to come in clothes that are suitable for messy play! However, we can order Pre-school uniform of t-shirts and sweatshirts and we do sell second hand uniform if we have in stock throughout the year if you would like your child to wear a uniform.

What if my child does not drink the water or milk available at snack time?

We have found from experience that the majority of children do drink milk or water during the session, especially when they see their peers doing the same thing. If not, at snack time, they can have their own water bottles which are freely accessible throughout the session. Please note we only allow plain water in children’s water bottles.

What if my child is poorly on a day they are due to come to Pre-School?

If your child is poorly, we ask that they do not attend Pre-school. If your child is poorly, please call the Pre-school to inform us or log on our ‘Famly’ app that your child will not be coming in and the reason why.

If your child has a temperature or vomiting and diarrhoea they must have a clear 48 hours before returning to Pre-school. If your child has seen a GP and has been prescribed antibiotics, they need 48 hours at home before returning to Pre-school in case of any adverse reactions. If your child has any vaccine injections during their time at Pre-school, we ask for your child to be kept at home that day.

Can I bring in cake/sweets for everyone to celebrate my child's birthday?

Whilst this is lovely for your child to have this shared experience with their friends. We ask that anything brought in, is shop brought if possible in its original packaging. If home baked goods are sent in, please send with a list of ingredients and best before dates. This enables us to check for any allergies known to us and food hygiene dates.

What do I do on arrival?

We ask parent/carers and children to wait in the outside playground ready to be collected by members of staff. Children will walk into the pre-school with a member of staff and hang their coats and bags in the cloak room and enter the pre-school main room.

When it is time for children to be collected, we ask that parent/carers wait in the outside play area and staff will come out with the children. Should you wish to speak to a member of staff or your child's keyperson on drop off or collection, please just let us know.

How do I communicate with the Pre-school?

We have a parent/carer app called ‘Famly’ which we use for your child's online learning journey. We also use this form for messaging parent/carers and for sending out the latest news and information. Absences and holiday can be recorded on this by parent/carers and invoices are sent through this app too.

Please make sure you have signed up to the ‘Famly’ before your child starts. This will be sent to you during the summer holidays and with instructions on how to join Famly.

Key Person

We allocate a key person to your child during their settling in period within the first couple of weeks. We will inform all parent/carers of their key person once we have allocated. By doing this it allows the children to settle in, gain confidence and build bonds with staff to start the beginning of their early years journey with us.
